Tourism & Leisure

Steyning is a wonderfully diverse town for the visitor. From the center of town there are a large number of picturesque local walks, including the South Downs Way, riverside walks and Chanctonbury Ring – (not for the faint hearted).

In the Tourist Information Centre located in the High Street Post Office, you will find leaflets on various local countryside walks as well as information on other activities available in the town. Steyning has become a center for cyclists who are seen regularly in the town, stopping for a well earned drink in one of our many cafes. We have 3 large car parks to accommodate the hundreds of visitors who come to the town every week, throughout the year.

Why do we get such a large number of visitors? Well, apart from the warm welcome, Steyning is an historic town with over 125 listed buildings dating as far back as the Medieval period and, includes St Andrews and St Cuthman Norman church.

Steyning really is a beautiful place to wander round and drink in it’s history as you roam the lanes and ‘twittens’. Why not visit the Steyning Museum (https://steyningmuseum.org.uk/wp/)and get a real feel for the town’s history? While there pick up a leaflet on Steyning’s famous ‘historical walk’.

When you are tired from all that walking why not stop for a drink and something to eat? Steyning has a number of cafes serving anything from a cup of tea or coffee, cream teas to light lunches – some are open in the evening.

There are 3 pubs – 2 of which serve food – and 4 restaurants so, there is a wide choice. If you don’t fancy going out there is an Italian and a fish & chip takeaway. If you want an eclectic mix of nightlife and eating Brighton, Worthing and Horsham are only a short distance away.
