Steyning High StreetThis is the Steyning Parish Council official website.  Welcome to the beautiful historic country town of Steyning surrounded by the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park. With over 125 listed buildings, you can amble through the High Street and small lanes and see stunning examples of Medieval, Tudor, Stuart and Georgian architecture showing how important Steyning was as a trading centre. Down Church Lane you will find our earliest piece of architecture, the Norman Church of the Parish Church of St Andrew and St Cuthman and facing it is a statue of St Cuthman in an eternal thoughtful pose!

This charming idyllic town has much to offer with a vibrant High Street full of interesting shops, coffee houses, restaurants and pubs.  It is the perfect place to stay, in one of our hotels or B&Bs, to explore some of the most wonderful walks with the most breathtaking views. Whether you want to stroll by the river or, take a hike up to Chanctonbury Ring (not for the faint-hearted!) or just take a gentle stroll around the beautiful local countryside there is a walk to suit everyone, see www.southdowns.gov.uk,  there are fantastic cycle and riding paths to enjoy, and then why not finish off with a Cream Tea in one of our picturesque tea rooms?     Brighton, Horsham and Worthing are only a few miles away, so if you want nightlife it is not far,  and then back to the tranquility of Steyning.

Steyning Hight StreetSteyning is a great place to live and work too.  It is small enough to preserve a real identity and has a great sense of community. With over 50 social activity groups from dancing to film clubs and painting classes to walking clubs, you will never be short of something to do. For the really sporty there is cycling, tennis, athletics, cricket and football – you can even learn how to scuba-dive! – and for the more sedate we have a bowling club. The modern Sports Centre offers tennis, squash, swimming, a gym and keep-fit and there are regular organised walks – so there is no excuse for becoming a couch potato.

Steyning High StreetFor young parents there are nursery, baby and toddler groups. We also have one of the best schools in the South, Steyning Grammar School.

We are lucky, we are living the life here! There is plenty to do and see in Steyning, so we hope that you will come and try it for yourself.

Come and visit and see what we have to offer!
